Electromagnetically released spring-applied brakes are employed in situations where rapid deceleration of moving masses or maintaining masses in a specific position is required.

These brakes use tappet springs to apply braking force, ensuring that the braking torque generated by friction remains available even when the brake is de-energized, such as during a mains failure. The brake is released electromagnetically.

These brakes find application in various fields, including brake motors, conveyors, cranes, storage technology, industrial trucks, woodworking machines, stage machinery, vehicles for the disabled, automation technology, controlled drives, gate drives, and escalators.

The braking torque can be reduced using the basic module E (adjustable braking torque) by unscrewing the centrally located torque adjustment ring, which reduces the spring force and, consequently, the braking torque.

The complete brake consists of a stator (magnet-part) complete with the basic E adjustable design, a rotor (standard with aluminum), and a hub. The technical data for this brake are as follows:

- Manufacturer: Intorq

- Type: BFK458

- Size: 12

- Design: E – adjustable braking torque

- Characteristic torque: 32 [Nm] max
